Down By the River: Anacostia, A Place of Spirit

A consortium of seven cultural and educational leaders in St. Petersburg, Russia have invited the Washington Arts Group to bring our exhibition, Down By the River: Anacostia, A Place of Spirit to their city for its 300th anniversary celebrations in May 2003.

Drawing upon an original core of artwork by D.C. area artists, new creations by Anacostia children, historical displays and accompanying seminars, A Place of Spirit explores the rich cultural life and heritage of Washington, D.C.'s Anacostia community.

A group of 10 artists and friends formed an official delegation from Washington, D.C. that traveled with the exhibition to St. Petersburg. find out more...
